Lake Superior State University

The Micro Analysis and Spectroscopic Characterization (MASC) Lab at LSSU is a multiuser core analytical facility that supports Research, Undergraduate Education, and K-12 Outreach in Northern Michigan and the Upper Midwest with modern instrumentation for electron microscopy and chemical imaging.  Applications include imaging and characterization of biologic specimens, rocks and minerals, engineered materials, art and archaeometry, particulate matter, and contaminants. Our facilities are available to both internal and external academic users as well as commercial/industrial users.
