Services for Faculty
LSSU Library offers many services to our faculty members; if you have any questions about any of our services, or if there’s another way we can help, contact us!
- LIBRARY INSTRUCTION: Our librarians, Ali and Marc, are available to provide instruction to your students on information literacy and research skills that will serve them here on campus and into their lives beyond; we’re happy to host your class in one of the labs we have here in the library, or we can come to your classroom to work with your students. We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with you in planning any research projects your students will be embarking on this coming school year so that your students will have a positive and productive experience in their research. We’ve created an online form to make it easy to request instruction for your class, but feel free to stop by the library and chat with any of our librarians if you prefer!
- LIBRARY COLLECTIONS: Our library collections include over 130,000 print volumes, over 500,000 ebooks, over 100 research databases, a map collection, and an extensive collection of historical materials related to LSSU and the region, but if there’s an item you need that we don’t have, we can request it from another library for you, or take it under consideration for purchase for our library.
- STUDY/MEETING ROOMS: LSSU Library offers both reservable and first-come-first-served study and meeting rooms, three computer/instruction labs, and we also welcome faculty to meet with their students in our Learning Commons on the main floor of the library.
- ACADEMIC PODCASTING: If you are interested in participating in our academic podcasting program, let us know! You can record your classes or other instructional content either in audio or video format and make them available through LakerCast for students, etc., to access.
- COURSE RESERVES: Faculty members can place materials on reserve for students behind the library’s circulation desk. If you have something you would like to place on reserve, use our online request form, or stop by the library to chat with us! We also offer our E-reserve service where students can access articles that you want to place on reserve electronically; materials on E-reserve can either be accessed directly through the library catalog, or you can copy the url into your Moodle course for students to access from there as well. Contact us if you’d like more information!
