Academic Affairs
The work of the Academic Affairs area, under the oversight of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, encompasses a broad range of activities and programs that support the University mission and the educational goals of LSSU students. Academic Affairs uses a collaborative leadership structure to coordinate academic operations, advance strategic priorities, and support continuous improvement across the University.
Academic Affairs Council
Instituted in Fall 2026, the Academic Affairs Council provides a broad forum for communication, coordination, and information sharing across Academic Affairs. Meeting bi-weekly, the Council brings together academic and administrative leaders to strengthen connections among the areas that support the University’s academic mission, facilitate communication about emerging issues and initiatives, and provide opportunities for collaborative discussion and problem-solving. The council membership includes the Provost, the Associate Vice President for Assessment and Accreditation, the leadership of the academic colleges and schools, the Registrar, leadership in academic services, academic administrative assistants, and the instructional technologist.
Provost Council
The Provost’s Council includes the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Provost’s direct reports, including the Associate Vice President for Assessment and Accreditation, Director of Sponsored Programs, Executive Assistant to the Provost and Assessment Coordinator, Academic Deans, Registrar, Executive Director of the Charter School Office, and the Director of Library and Academic Services.
The Provost’s Council meets monthly to support strategic coordination across Academic Affairs and alignment with University priorities. The Council discusses strategic priority alignment, campus-wide initiatives, and campus-culture initiatives; reviews proposed campus-wide policies and procedures that affect Academic Affairs; and reviews assessment data and feedback from the University Assessment Committee. The Council provides a forum for coordinated leadership and communication on matters that cross academic and administrative areas.
Deans Council
The Deans Council includes the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Academic Deans, and the Director of Library and Academic Services. The Council provides a forum for collaboration and shared leadership among academic units.
The Deans Council proposes academic initiatives that directly affect programs and faculty, reviews assessment data, recommends changes to academic policies and procedures, and recommends action based on assessment findings. The Council also coordinates the completion of comprehensive program assessment, review, and prioritization processes to support academic quality, continuous improvement, and effective stewardship of academic programs.
