The library has 13 study rooms available for student use; eight are suitable for 1-2 people (LBR 136-141, 338, and 339), and five will accommodate groups of 2-4 people (LBR 130-135, and 142). All of the rooms are first come, first served.
Markers for the marker boards should be in the rooms, but if they are not working ask at the Circulation Desk for replacements. An individual may be asked to leave a group study room if it is needed by a group.

There are three special conference rooms in the library designated for university staff use.
The Marine Conference Room (LBR 362) and Hart Room (LBR 334) are located on the third floor, and the Skype Conference Room (LBR 150) is located on the first floor (or basement level). Conference rooms can be reserved in advance through circulation (906-635-2815) or by using our Ask a Librarian form. These rooms are not to be used as substitute seminar or classrooms. The keys for these rooms must be checked out at the Circulation Desk; students will need their LSSU student ID to check out a room key.
Although designated for university staff use, student groups may reserve the conference rooms for special meetings or study sessions for particularly large groups with the permission of a librarian or the circulation supervisor. As true for university use, they are not to be reserved for weekly ongoing meetings. Reservations should be made in advance with circulation staff or via the reservation form. If rooms are left untidy, this privilege may be withdrawn. Priority is given to university use whether or not the room is reserved. If there is a reservation conflict, students will be notified as quickly as possible so they can make alternate arrangements.
Food and drinks are allowed in the conference rooms for university staff use.
For our nursing parents on campus, we have a comfortable, private room on the 3rd floor available for checkout; simply stop by the Circulation Desk and use your campus ID to check out the key.
Our Nursing Parent room is private and comfortable, and holds a small refrigerator to store pumped milk.
The special collections rooms consist of the Michigan Room (room 330), which provides a display and reading area for people using special collections materials, and the Hart Room (room 334). The special collections include the Michigan Collection, the Marine Collection, the Historical Text Collection, the Special Collection, the Ochsner Collection, the LSSU Archives, and the Hart Collection. With the exception of the Hart Collection, these materials do not circulate and should leave the room with special permission only. For security purposes, a librarian or staff person will accompany and monitor people using these materials. Appointments can be made to use the Michigan Room by calling Mary M. June at 906-635-2862. Food and drink are not allowed in these rooms. Â For more information, please see our Special Collections page.
Exhibits for the Art Gallery, located on the main floor, must be approved by the Gallery Committee and comply with the Exhibit policies for the Library’s gallery. Contact Mary M. June at 906-635-2862 with any questions regarding its use. Food and drink are not allowed in the gallery.
Please see our Room Reservations Policy for more full details on reserving rooms.
