Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Accreditation Activities
Institutional Accreditation is a process of continuous improvement with a strong focus on student learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness. Regular and ongoing evaluation of the University’s progress in meeting its learning goals is a part of every institution’s accreditation. The University will host a peer review team from the Higher Learning Commission in 2026-2027 for the next Comprehensive Evaluation for Reaffirmation of regional accreditation.

- Comprehensive Evaluation (Scheduled for 2026-2027)
- Approval of Additional Location at Chippewa Correctional Facility: LSSU_HLC Change Panel Action Letter 4_28_2023
- Focused Visit – focus on enrollment and financial planning (conducted October 23-24, 2023)
- Year-Four Comprehensive Evaluation (2020-2021) including an embedded Interim Report on enrollment and budget
- Interim Report – focus on enrollment and budget
- Focused Visit – focus on program review, strategic planning and budget
- Additional Location Site Review – routine periodic monitoring
- LSSU Multi-Location Visit: Iron Mountain and Hessel – conducted October 30, 2019
- Interim Report – focus on Federal credit hour expectations
