Bio:
Seth A. McCall is an assistant professor and Coordinator of Student Teaching in the School of Education at Lake Superior State University whose scholarship examines what it means to inherit and rework problematic curricula and teach toward a more just future. His work draws on curriculum theory, qualitative and arts-based methods, and place-based education to examine how teachers navigate curricula and institutions shaped by legacies of exclusion. His first book, A Troubling Inheritance: Experimenting with Problematic Curricula (Lexington Books, 2024), extends this inquiry into teacher education, arguing for experimental, ethically serious forms of curriculum work. At LSSU, McCall teaches in the areas of special education, social-emotional learning, and teacher preparation. He is especially committed to supporting the diverse range of teacher candidates he works with, including paraprofessionals completing their licensure through Michigan’s Talent Together initiative, as they develop into thoughtful practitioners.
