LSSU C.A.R.E. Team

The C.A.R.E. (Campus Assessment, Response, and Evaluation) Team at Lake Superior State University is dedicated to building a holistic approach to student success by fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive campus environment. Through early outreach and collaboration across departments, the team identifies and responds to students who may be experiencing personal, academic, or behavioral challenges, connecting them with the right resources and offering coordinated care. By promoting well-being, encouraging positive growth, and ensuring every student feels valued and supported, the C.A.R.E. Team helps Lakers thrive throughout their journey at LSSU.

    • The C.A.R.E. Team supports students with concerns beyond academics. Use the C.A.R.E. form when you notice a student struggling with personal, emotional, behavioral, or wellbeing issues.
    • Early Alerts are still used for academic concerns like grades or attendance. The C.A.R.E. Team handles everything else.
    • When in doubt, submit a C.A.R.E. report. If the concern fits better under Early Alert or another office, we will route it to the right place.

If you need to report an emergency or are reporting an incident that poses an imminent risk of harm,

Call the LSSU Public Safety at 906-635-2100, or dial Local Police at 9-1-1.
