Processing Fee for Credit/Debit Cards

Effective July 11th, 2025 Lake Superior State University will be implementing a 3.00% processing fee for domestic credit/debit cards (minimum $3.00 fee) and 4.25% for international credit/debit cards (minimum $3.00 fee). This amount is established by our third-party credit card processor, Touchnet PayPath, and covers the cost of processing credit/debit card payments. To avoid this fee, we encourage students to utilize alternative payment methods, such as:

 

  • Online ACH payments
  • Cash payments in person at the Business Office
  • Check payments in person or via mail

 

All non cash or check payments will need to be made online via the Bill & Payment Suite.

 

View your current and previous eBills, view current unbilled account activity, and make payments via Credit Card, Debit Card, Savings accounts, and Checking accounts. Visit Payment Options for more information on making payments.

Add Authorized Users

Students can add multiple Authorized Users to their account. Authorized Users will be able to view eBills, make payments and set up payment plans for their students. Authorized users will receive email notifications when new eBills are available. Authorized Users will have their own user ID and password to the Bill and Payment Suite directly. They WILL NOT be able to view the student’s email messages or academic information.

Direct Deposit

Students can set up an account to receive any student refunds via direct deposit. Students can add, modify or delete their direct deposit information anytime to be effective for the next refund process. NOTE: This DOES NOT affect payroll direct deposit, only refunds from your student account.

Alternative E-mail and Mobile Text Settings

Students can add an alternative personal email address to receive notifications about their account in addition to their LSSU email. Students can also add text notifications to be received on their mobile phone.

Advance Room & Board and Tuition Payments

Students and Authorized Users will be able to pay their advance room and board payment and damage deposit payment for Housing online. Students and Authorized Users can also make advance tuition payments to be held for future terms online.

Payment Plans

Students and Authorized Users will be able to sign up for the payment plan online. A payment method must be provided for automatic payments. Payment amounts will adjust automatically for changes in billing amounts and users will receive a notification of changed amounts. Please be advised that there is a $25 Payment Plan Fee that is due upon sign-up for the payment plan.

Balances and Insufficient Funds

It is the responsibility of students to ensure their tuition account balance is satisfied by the due date.  LSSU charges a late fee of 1.50% of the outstanding balance on the 16th of each month.  LSSU expects payment to be satisfied upon presentation to the financial institution.

A fee of $20 will be charged to a student’s tuition account for a return of payment due to insufficient funds.
